Dear confreres, honorees, collaborators and friends of the Academy,
It is with a sense of duty and profound gratitude that I have received the mandate to preside over this institution for the 2025–2027 term. Over more than two decades, we have made the Brazilian Academy of Merit Honors a meeting place for diverse civilizational traditions, united by a common principle: the public recognition of merit.
The years ahead ask of us something more than ceremony — they ask for precision, transparency and a renewed willingness to honor journeys that, far from the glare of the ephemeral, sustain the slow work of building civilization.
May this presidency, in its own measure, help the Academy remain a bridge between nations and a living memory of what deserves to be remembered.
Diplomat, professor and guardian of the institutional memory.
A career diplomat, he served in Lisbon, Geneva and Beijing before assuming the Academy's Chancellery in 2019.
Holding a doctorate in International Relations from the University of Coimbra, he is the author of three works on cultural diplomacy and institutional memory.
He presides over the Honorific Council and the College of Grand Masters of the four Orders.
